At the U SPORTS men's soccer awards banquet tonight in Toronto, Chanan Chanda was named the U SPORTS Rookie of the Year and to the U SPORTS All-Rookie Team.

Forward Chanan Chanda made an immediate impact, emerging as a key offensive force and helping Mount Royal finish atop the Prairie Division standings. The Calgary product started all 14 regular season games he appeared in, establishing himself as a constant threat in the attacking third. Chanda recorded seven goals and three assists—ranking tied for third in Canada West in both goals and total points. His breakout campaign also earned him recognition as both a Canada West Second Team All-Star and a member of the All-Rookie Team.

Chanda also proved himself a stalwart in the playoffs, with four goals that propelled his team towards becoming Canada West Champions with an exciting 2-1 victory over UBC.

The Cougars kick-off in their first game of the U SPORTS National Championship on Thursday, November 6 at 2 PM MST versus Cape Breton in Toronto. Fans can watch the game live on CBC Sports.
