The Cougar Booster Club is a non-profit volunteer organization that exists to support Mount Royal University varsity student-athletes. We are individuals who represent Mount Royal alumni, student-athletes, employees, students, and members of the community who wish to connect and provide recognition and financial assistance to Cougar athletes. The Cougar Booster Club was incorporated on November 26, 1982.
Al Bohonus, a catalyst of the Club and long-time Athletic Director at Mount Royal College was the first to sign the Club by-laws. His vision was to create a $1 million dollar endowment for Cougar Athletics in order to support the student-athletes of Mount Royal. This goal was reached in 1998, but unfortunately not before Al passed away in the spring of 1995.
Al Bohonus' legacy continues to live on through the Cougar Endowment fund and the various activities of the Club. The student-athletes themselves have made significant contributions, as thousands of individuals have worked fundraisers and events in order to build a healthy financial picture for Cougar Athletics.
The Cougar Booster Club continues to raise funds for the Cougar Endowment fund and donate to Cougar Athletics on an annual basis. These dollars go towards financially supporting student-athlete through scholarships, awards and enhancing the student-athlete experience. As was the case in the first thirty years, it will take the efforts of current student-athletes and alumni to continue the support and success of the Club.
