SASKATOON - With a 3-2 victory over the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Friday afternoon on Field 7 in Saskatoon's PotashCorp Park, the Mount Royal University Cougars booked a date in the Canada West men's soccer postseason.

Entering the match, both teams needed wins to secure their playoff fates. A University of Lethbridge Pronghorns 3-2 win over the University of Calgary Dinos Thursday night, meant the Huskies' needed to win both matches on the final weekend of play, while Mount Royal needed at least one win.

Cougars' captain Cody Cook sealed the fate in extra time when Mount Royal was able to breakaway from a Huskie offensive push.

The win moves Mount Royal to 8-4-3 on the season and could still host a playoff match depending on Sunday's outcomes. Saskatchewan drops to 6-7-2.

Jakub Rogowski opened the scoring for Saskatchewan in the 12th minute when his ball slid into the corner of the Mount Roy net by an outstretched Kamil Zielinski

The lead didn't last long. The Cougars tallied on a Darius Ramsay shot in the 15th minute that was punched in between Huskie keeper Greg Buckley and the post. Cook added another Mount Royal goal in the 21st minute on a cross-play.

Rookie Mohamed Omar was able to tie the match in the 63rd minute on a ball sent across the box by Shedrek Samuel.

Saskatchewan thought they had the go-ahead goal in the 75th minute but the goal was disallowed on a foul call in the box.

Zielinski finished the match making four saves with the Cougars, while Buckley stopped three at the other end of the pitch for Saskatchewan. Each team tallied 11 shots and six on net.

The Huskies meet the Calgary Dinos Sunday in the final match of the Canada West regular season, while Mount Royal meets the Lethbridge Pronghorns.
