Born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, Tino Fusco has served as Head Coach of the women’s soccer program at Mount Royal University since 2009. Over his tenure, he has earned multiple honours — most recently being named the Canada West Coach of the Year after guiding the Cougars to a first-place finish in the Prairie Division.
Prior to assuming the head-coach role, Coach Fusco contributed to the men’s program as an assistant coach. As a player, he enjoyed a distinguished career with the University of Saskatchewan in Canada West competition — earning All-Canadian status and being awarded Conference All-Star honours three consecutive years. Upon graduation, he was drafted by the Vancouver 86'ers (now the Vancouver Whitecaps) of Major League Soccer.
Coach Fusco holds a Canadian Soccer A Licence, is a Chartered Professional Coach, and serves as a National-Level Coach Developer within the National Coaching Certification Program. Academically, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Saskatchewan and an Engineering Design Diploma from the Southern Institute of Technology.
His coaching journey has taken him worldwide: he represented U SPORTS as an assistant coach at the FISU Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia, and was the first FISU Team Canada Head Coach at the FISU World University Futsal Championships in Brazil, where he led the national squad to a program-best fourth-place finish.
Under his leadership the Cougars program has grown in both performance and academic achievement, establishing a culture of high expectation, continuous development and student-athlete success reaching the final four in 2025.
