Tino Fusco, originally from Regina, Saskatchewan, has led the Mount Royal University women’s soccer program as head coach since 2009. Over that time, he has established one of the most respected programs in Canada West, guiding the Cougars to sustained competitive success while earning multiple coaching honours, including Canada West Coach of the Year. Under his leadership, Mount Royal has continued to grow as a program defined by ambition, consistency, and a commitment to excellence, including a Final Four appearance in 2025.
Before taking over the women’s program, Fusco served as an assistant coach with the Mount Royal men’s team. As a player, he competed in Canada West with the University of Saskatchewan, where he earned All-Canadian recognition and was named a conference all-star three straight seasons. Following his university career, he was drafted by the Vancouver 86ers, now known as the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Fusco holds a CONCACAF A Diploma, is a Chartered Professional Coach, and a Master-Level Coach Developer within the National Coaching Certification Program. He has also contributed to the game beyond the university level, representing U SPORTS internationally as an assistant coach at the FISU Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia, and later becoming the first FISU Team Canada head coach at the FISU World University Futsal Championships in Brazil, where he led the team to a program-best fourth-place finish.
Academically, Fusco holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Saskatchewan and an Engineering Design Diploma from the Southern Institute of Technology. At Mount Royal, he has built a program centered on high standards, continuous development, and student-athlete success, with equal emphasis on competitive performance, academic achievement, and the overall growth of the athletes within the program.
