Biography

2013-14

In his freshman year, Friesen averaged 2.04 kills per set and 2.65 points per set. Those numbers were third behind only veterans Colton de Man and Jordan Parkin. He also managed to fire off eight service aces and 19 digs. His outstanding rookie season earned a spot on the Canada West All-Rookie Team and the honour of being named the Cougars’ Male Freshman Athlete of the Year.

2014-15

Friesen remained third in most of the major categories again in 2014-15 as he put up 2.15 kills per set and 2.5 points per set.  He had a total of 151.5 points, with a hitting percentage of .071%.  He also managed four service aces and 68 digs before an ankle injury cut his season short.

2015-16

Riley transferred to Red Deer College for the 2015-16 season where he won a national championship with the Kings. RDC swept Limilou College 3-0 in the CCAA finals last March. In 39 sets Friesen averaged 2.77 kills per set, the second highest on the team.
