Born and raised in Calgary, Alta. Drake Brown played Junior Hockey in the Saskatchewan, Alberta and B.C Junior Hockey Leagues (SJHL, AJHL and BCHL) from 2012-15 before entering into a coaching role with the U18 AA Calgary Buffaloes. During his time with the Buffaloes, Brown earned back-to-back Provincial Championship Staff of the Year awards which was followed by an employment offer from the Mount Royal Cougars in 2019.Â
When Brown joined the Cougars he also started organizing the Western Elite Hockey Showcases; helping hundreds of players across Western Canada earn opportunities to play junior hockey. In the summers, Brown joins a team of coaches to run Next Step Sports where they help local Junior, University and Professional players develop their skills.Â
