Biography

2012-13

The Calgary native played an integral role in the Cougars first ever CIS victory in 2012, when they knocked off the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns 3-2. The following day Zielinski earned his first shutout in the CIS with an 11 save performance against the very same Pronghorns squad.

2013-14

After appearing in nine games in 2012-13, Zielinski’s role was reduced in the Cougars’ second full CIS season. His minutes dropped 719 to 540 but he still managed to set career highs. Kamil won three times and made 75 saves on the season, both career-highs to that point. He also dropped his goals against average to 1.50.

2014-15

Zielinski shared the goaltending duties with fifth year senior David Thalheimer in 2014-15. In six starts, the third year veteran went 2-3-1 with a 1.50 goals against average. and .795 save percentage, the sixth best in the Canada West.  The 6’2 goalkeeper is penciled in to be the Cougars’ number one goalkeeper next fall.

2015-16

Kamil Zielinski was named the undisputed starting keeper for the Cougars in 2015-16 and made the best of his opportunity. Kamil set career-highs in wins (7), shutouts (4) and goals against (1.20). His career year paved the way for the Cougars to make the playoffs for the first time in school history. He currently holds all of the Cougars’ career goaltending records.
