Smiley, the Airdrie, Alberta native, transferred to Mount Royal after two seasons in the NCAA with UMass Amherst Minutemen. In 51 games with UMass, Smiley tallied two goals, four assists and six points. Prior to his career in the NCAA, Smiley starred with the Brooks Bandits of the AJHL. Smiley put up 86 points in 121 games over his three year AJHL career.
