Mount Royal University Cougars Athletics & Recreation

2013-14

After completing a successful junior career in the Western Hockey League and the Alberta Junior Hockey League, Olstad received a scholarship to Wilfred Laurier University in the OUA. In 10 games in with the Golden Hawks, Olstad had one goal and six assists.

2014-15

Olstad transferred to Mount Royal in the winter semester of 2015. In ten regular season games he had two goals and an assist. Tanner was most impactful in the playoffs where he scored three points, none bigger than the game winner in game two of the second round against Calgary. He capped a brilliant solo effort with quick shot that sealed the game for Mount Royal, forcing a third and deciding game.  

2015-16

Olstad broke out in a big way in 2015-16 tying for third in team scoring with 23 points (11G, 12A). Olstad was also second on the team in plus/minus with an outrageous +22 in just 27 games. Olstad also managed to minimize his time in the box, dropping his penalty minutes from 26 to 10 in his second season with the Cougars.
