Biography

2013-14

The Penticton, British Columbia native earned his way into the lineup during his rookie season by playing a hard, physical, defensive game. His thunderous hits had opposing forwards heads on a swivel when number four was on the ice. Prior to arriving at Mount Royal, Hrynyk played two seasons with the Dauphin Kings of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL). From 2011 through 2013 Hrynyk accumulated 221 penalty minutes in 107 games.

2014-15

Hrynyk scored his first ever regular season goal as a Cougar in a crucial late game victory over the #1 Alberta Golden Bears. He set personal bests in goals in his sophomore season and established himself as one of the most feared physical presences in the conference. Hrynyk was also clutch during the Cougars 2014-15 playoff run, scoring twice in six games.

2015-16

Hrynyk was given the ‘A’ in his third full season with the Cougars. The rugged stay at home defenceman tied a career-high in points with six and set a new high in assists with six. Hrynyk was limited to only 18 regular season games in 2015-16 but was +7 playing against the top forwards from the opposing teams.
