The MRU Cougars women's basketball team is set to return to competition for the 2026-27 season as the program officially announced its schedule on June 26th.
Following a 2025-26 campaign that saw the Cougars finish with a 10-10 regular season record and secure a spot in the Canada West playoffs, Mount Royal will look to build on that momentum in the year ahead. The 2026-27 schedule features 20 regular season games, including key matchups against Calgary, Alberta, Regina and Saskatchewan.
Season Opener
The Cougars will officially open the season on Friday, October 30 when they travel to Edmonton for a season-opening series against the MacEwan Griffins.
Mount Royal enjoyed success against the Griffins last season, sweeping the season series with a pair of victories during Week 4 of the 2025-26 campaign.
The Cougars' home opener is scheduled for Friday, November 6 when they welcome the Calgary Dinos to Kenyon Court. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.

Nov. 6, 2026 vs. Calgary — Home opener and the first meeting with the Dinos this season.
Dec. 4-5, 2026 vs. Regina — The final series before the holiday break against a Regina squad that finished among the top three teams in Canada West during the 2025-26 season.
Feb. 5-6, 2027 vs. Alberta — The Cougars' final home series of the regular season.
Feb. 12-13, 2027 at Saskatchewan — The final series of the regular season and a challenging test against last season's top team in Canada West.
Home Schedule
Fans will have plenty of opportunities to catch the Cougars in action at Kenyon Court this season, with 10 home games on the schedule.
Home court proved to be a major advantage for Mount Royal last season, as the Cougars compiled an impressive 7-3 record in front of their home fans. The team will look to carry that success into another competitive Canada West campaign.
