The MRU Cougars men's volleyball team is set to return to competition for the 2026-27 season as the program officially announced its schedule on June 24th.

Coming off a season that saw the Cougars post a 9-11 regular season record and qualify for the Canada West postseason, Mount Royal will look to take another step forward in 2026-27. The schedule features 20 regular season matches, including key contests against Calgary, UBC, Alberta and Manitoba.

Season Opener
The Cougars will officially open the season on Friday, October 23 when they host the Thompson Rivers WolfPack at Kenyon Court.
The opening weekend will mark the second consecutive season that MRU and TRU have met to begin conference play. Last season, the Cougars swept the season series against the WolfPack and will look to carry that momentum into the new campaign.

Highlights of the schedule include:
Oct. 23-24, 2026 vs. TRU — Opening weekend of the season and the Cougars' home opener.
Nov. 13-14, 2026 @ Calgary — The first matchup with the Dinos since last year's Canada West Play-In Series.
Feb. 19-20, 2027 vs. Alberta — The final home series of the regular season.
March 18-21, 2027 — The U SPORTS Men's Volleyball National Championship, hosted by MRU.

Home Schedule
Fans will have plenty of opportunities to catch the Cougars in action at Kenyon Court this season, with 10 home matches on the schedule.
Home court proved to be a significant advantage for Mount Royal during the 2025-26 campaign, as the Cougars compiled an impressive 7-3 record at Kenyon Court. That success at home could prove especially important as MRU prepares to host the 2027 U SPORTS National Championship and compete in front of its home crowd on the national stage.

With a mix of returning talent, new additions and another challenging Canada West schedule ahead, the Cougars will look to continue their upward trajectory during the 2026-27 campaign.
