Box Score CALGARY – Two Cowtown rivals went into Saturday's match with 6-0 records; but, only one side could come away still undefeated.

The University of Calgary Dinos women's soccer team ousted the Mount Royal University Cougars with a narrow 1-0 win to remain unbeaten through seven matches.

The loss is the first of the 2026 campaign for Mount Royal, who had started the year at a program best pace. 

The first half saw the two Canada West juggernauts trade possession continuously in the midfield without much danger inside the penalty area. 

The stand alone notable opportunity in the first half came in the 44th minute when Ella Djuranic connected with a solid header at the six yard box but was denied by a diving Ella Filek to keep the game scoreless heading into the break. 

Early in the second half, the Dinos broke the deadlock.

Erica Mysko converted on a low cross inside the box from Mykena Walker, tipping the ball just past Filek to give Calgary the all-important lead. The goal was Mysko' second of the season.

The elements began to become a factor as the rain came down on Mount Royal Stadium Field's artificial turf and the wind kept blowing. 

The Cougars battled hard to break through but the Dinos put on a defensive clinic all the way until the final whistle. Mount Royal did not register on a shot on goal in the entire second half.

Calgary held on for the 1-0 victory.

The win keeps the #4 ranked team in the nation atop the Prairie Division standings while the #8 ranked Cougars fall just behind the Dinos.

The two sides will rematch on October 9 at McMahon Stadium.
