The MRU Cougars men's soccer team is set to return to competition for the 2026 season as the program officially announced its schedule on June 22nd.

Coming off a historic campaign that saw the Cougars post a division-best 7-3-4 regular season record, capture the Canada West Championship and finish as runners-up at the U SPORTS National Championship, Mount Royal will look to build on that momentum in 2026. The schedule features 14 regular season matches, including key match ups against Lethbridge, Saskatchewan, Alberta and Calgary.

Season Opener
The Cougars will officially open the season on Thursday, August 27 when they take on the Calgary Dinos on the road.
The home opener is scheduled for Friday, September 11 at MRU's new Championship Field against the University of Alberta, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
Last season, the Cougars swept the season series against Alberta, earning victories in both Week 1 and Week 11.

Highlights of the schedule include:
Sept. 11, 2026 vs. Alberta — Home Opener
Sept. 13, 2026 vs. Lethbridge — A match up against one of the Prairie Division's top three teams from 2025
Oct. 2, 2026 at Victoria — A rematch of the 2025 Canada West semifinal
Oct. 24, 2026 vs. Calgary — The Cougars' final home match of the regular season and the only time they host their Crowchild rival. 

Home Schedule
Fans will have plenty of opportunities to catch the Cougars at home this season, with seven matches scheduled at Championship Field.
Mount Royal will also look to improve upon its home record from 2025, when the team finished 3-3-1 on home turf despite its overall success throughout the season.
With a mix of returning talent, new additions and another challenging conference schedule ahead, the Cougars will look to continue establishing themselves among the nation's elite programs during the 2026 campaign.
