Players Bench Female Athlete of the Week: Sydney Scatcherd 

Sydney Scatcherd delivered a memorable Senior Night performance for the MRU Cougars, putting on a show in her final home regular season games despite the team coming up short in back-to-back matchups against the University of Calgary Dinos.

In her last appearances on home court, Scatcherd was a difference-maker on both ends of the floor. On Friday, she helped keep the Cougars in the fight, leading the team with 12 kills. She followed that effort with another standout showing on Saturday, pacing all MRU players with 16 kills while adding 13 digs to round out a complete performance. 

Sydney Scatcherd is a fourth-year education student from London, Ontario.

Players Bench Male Athlete of the Week: Kale Orr

Kale Orr powered the Cougars to a dominant weekend sweep over the University of Calgary Dinos, as Mount Royal took both matches in straight sets at home and clinched a spot in the Canada West playoffs.

In Friday night's match, Orr led the Cougars with a team-high 12 kills and added the team's only two service aces in a 3–0 victory.

Saturday brought more of the same, as Orr posted a match-high 13 kills and delivered key points down the stretch to help the Cougars complete the sweep.

Orr is a first-year business student from Magrath, Alberta.
