WSOC: Cougars get the shut-out win against the Regina Cougars

Tamara Djurisic gets a hattrick to get the Cougars the win.

On a cold and wet Saturday afternoon, it's a Cougars vs Cougars match, as the Mount Royal Cougars are set to take on the University of Regina Cougars at Field #2.

In the 42nd minute Ella Filek gets an initial save, and hops on the rebound to keep the game at 0-0.

Filek keeps the game at a draw with a few other big saves.

Gabrielle Linford has a big scoring chance in the 31st minute but the shot goes high of the net.

Filek makes a big save in the 27th minute leaping at the shot in the top left of the net.

Kirsten Koellmelof Regina has a big chance in the 33rd minute and Filek makes the initial save, the rebound goes right to Lennox Lockhurst with an open net-the shot goes off the cross bar and high.

In the 39th minute, Tamara Djurisic gets the ball at half field, takes the ball up the field herself, gets through Reginas defence and scores her 7th goal of the season, burying it by Peyton Magnuson in the bottom left of the net.

With 34 mins left in the half Gabrielle Linford has a shot on net Magnuson gets the initial save, the rebound bounces off the cross bar, and is open, Regina covers the ball up off that chance.

Mount Royal kept the game as a defensive as possible, Dany Juarez had a few opportunities.

Djurisic in the 76th minute, sends a corner kick in to the near post, off the post, and off Magnuson, and in the net.

Giving Djurisic her 2nd of the game and 8th on the season.

In the 88th minute Filek is keeping the defence up and making the clutch saves.

In the 89th minute Madeliene Albert sends the ball to a sprinting Djurisic beating the defenders and Magnuson, Djurisic buries a hattrick goal.

Setting a new Mount Royal University individual scoring record, getting her 9th goal of the season.

The Mount Royal Cougars get a shut out win, with a Djurisic hattrick.

Djurisic is taking in this win, "we're feeling really good. We knew this was an important game for us" while also taking in her own achievements, saying "it feels great. It's good to have hard work paid off.

The Cougars look ahead as they take on the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Sunday afternoon.
