Sterling Kerr, Caden Rogozinski,
Mohamed El Gandour and Jonathan Walters were recognized at the annual All-Canadian Gala Wednesday evening ahead of the U SPORTS men's soccer Championships in Kamloops.Â
After being named the Canada West Community Service Student-Athlete and to the first-team all-start list last week, Kerr has been selected to the U SPORTS First Team All-Canadian. As the primary goalkeeper for the Mount Royal University Cougars, Kerr helped his team to first in the Prairie division with 7.5 shutouts on the year. That mark tied him for fourth-best in a single season. The Cougars went undefeated in the regular season as Kerr posted the best save percentage (.870) and goals-against-average (.519) in the conference. Rogozinski joins Kerr on the First Team All-Canadian list after supporting the team defensively throughout the season, making strategic tackles and defensive plays all over the field in all situations.Â
El Gandour, a graduating forward, joins the U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian list after finishing the regular season with 961 minutes in 12 games, 12 points (8G-4A) and 45 shots. Previously El Gandour was named the U SPORTS Men's Soccer Player of the Year in 2021-22. Named to the U SPORTS All-Rookie Team was Walters who in the regular season supported the Cougars' efforts with 2 goals in 13 games.Â
These awards will wrap up the Cougars men's soccer season following their bronze medal finish at the Canada West Final Four Championship.Â
