MBB: Manitoba wins the night, 79-70

CALGARY - The Mount Royal University Cougars hosted the University of Manitoba Bisons to a tough match on Kenyon Court. The Bisons set the pace for the game, putting up a strong offensive.  

The scores for the quarters were: 23-16, 12-14, 22-13, and 22-27. 

Manitoba's Rashawn Browne opened the game with a quick layup, sneaking past the Cougars defences. They pulled into a steady lead of at least two points. Mount Royal's Matthew Guinto set the pace for his team with the first four points until Manitoba stole back the advantage to solidify their lead. They held a healthy points advantage until the end of the quarter. 

Mount Royal held strong in the second, taking the first points. They evened the score at 23 until Manitoba regrouped and took back the lead. Manitoba's Risto Zimbakov closed the quarter with a quick layup from the paint. 

Manitoba opened the scoring in the third with a steady string of points, securing their lead. Guinto led the team, securing the majority of the points for the quarter. He closed the quarter with a quick layup, bringing the score gap ever closer. 

The fourth was a bit slow to start on either side. Mount Royal soon found their feet once more to narrow the score to a mere five points. They held steady until the Bisons found an opportunity to steal the lead once more with a quick series of points, ending the quarter with a free-throw. 

The Bisons ended the night strong with a final score of 79-70. 

The two teams will play again on Saturday, January 11th, on Kenyon Court. It will be broadcasted live on CanadaWest.tv, presented by Co-op.
