HEADLINES:
Both teams are limping into this weekend after being swept in their last home series. The Cougars have lost four in a row but are coming off a bye week and should be well rested. UBC just flew all the way across the conference to Winnipeg, only to lose both games in only seven sets.
THE SERIES:
The Cougars are 1-5 against UBC in six career Canada West meetings.
MOUNT ROYAL COUGARS (4-4)
The Cougars are in the midst of their toughest portion of the schedule. In the span of five weeks they match up against four nationally ranked teams. Despite their struggles, they are still ranked #10 in the nation. They are getting lots of production from their top players this season, as Tyler Schmidt (3.7), Andrew McWilliam (3.5) and Jordan Parkin (3.4) are all averaging over 3.0 points per set.
UBC THUNDERBIRDS (4-4)
UBC has struggled this season against the two Winnipeg-based teams, losing all but three sets in four matches. Otherwise they have been perfect, defeating Regina and Calgary with relative ease. Mac McNicol leads the Thunderbirds in scoring, averaging 4.0 points per set and 3.33 kills per set. Setting up MacNicol is second year Byron Keturakis who has 211 sets this season.
