GAME DATE: Saturday October 31 at Calgary
LOCATION: West Varsity Pitch; U of C Campus – 12:00pm MDT
HEADLINES:
The Crowchild Classic rivalry will add a post season date this weekend when the Cougars travel up to West Varsity Pitch to take on the Dinos. This is Mount Royal's first ever playoff berth and there will be no shortage of support, as fans in blue will make their way into enemy territory. Just over a week ago, Mount Royal played the Dinos to a scoreless draw in a game that had some serious playoff implications.
THE SERIES:
Mount Royal has never beaten the Dinos in Canada West play going 0-2-3 over five games. They did however have two impressive showings against Calgary, including a 0-0 tie just over a week ago.
MOUNT ROYAL COUGARS (3-8-3; 5th in the East Division)
The Cougars are getting hot at the right time heading into the postseason. They have won two of their last three games and are undefeated over that span. Sophomore goaltender Meghan Prudhomme has been spectacular over the Cougars' run. She has not allowed a goal in the last three matches and made two game-saving stops in her last start against Lethbridge.
CALGARY DINOS (8-3-3; 2nd in the East Division)
The Dinos tore through the regular season, losing only three times in 14 games. Jordan Smith finished second in the league in points with 12 and third in goal scoring with 7. Samantha Chang-Foidl has been a rock in goal for the Dinos. The third year keeper has only allowed 10 goals in 12 games and owns a 0.750% save percentage. She also leads the East Division with six shutouts on the year.
**NOTE – The Cougars will be providing a Fan Bus and free tickets for all current Mount Royal students wishing to go to the game. The bus will leave West Residence at 11:30am on Saturday October 31st and returning after the game.
