Friday, November 9, 2012 - Kelowna, B.C...Fourth year guard Azi Fahandeg-Sadi (Kelowna, BC) led the Heat in their first win of the league season. The Heat played against rookie Canada West team, the Mount Royal University Cougars, winning 74-63. This is head coach Pete Guarasci's first win in the CIS.
Fahandeg-Sadi had 27 points, four of those baskets from behind the arc, accounting for over a quarter of the Heat's points for the night. Third year guard Anwar Faza (Ottawa, ON) put up 17 points and snagged seven rebounds. Rookie guard Greet Gill (Osoyoos, BC), was the leading rebounder with eight rebounds.
Fifth year forward
Nick Loewen had a strong offensive game with 13 points, two assists, and two steals for the Cougars. He was accompanied by third year guard,
Awet Abraha (Calgary, AB) with 14 points.
The Heat now move to 1-2 in league play and the Cougars drop to 0-3. The Heat will look to extend their winning streak when they face these same Cougars one more time on Saturday night. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
