Bjorn Billehaug

Bjorn Billehaug has been a valued member of the Mount Royal University community since November 2013, having served as Customer Service Supervisor, Customer Experience Manager, and now Associate Director of Recreation. He holds a Master of Arts in Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation from the University of Alberta, a Bachelor of Recreation Studies from the University of Manitoba, and a Diploma in Recreation Studies from Mount Royal University.

Bjorn brings a diverse and extensive background in sport, recreation, and leisure. His previous roles include Sales and Marketing Manager with High Country Properties Vacation Rentals, and multiple program leadership positions at the University of Manitoba, where he oversaw intramurals, clubs, adult wellness and aquatics, outdoor recreation, and children’s programs. He has also served as a Regional Youth Coordinator with the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General in British Columbia, and as Summer Program Coordinator with Boundary Family & Individual Services Society.

He holds several professional certifications, including Standard First Aid (Red Cross) and leadership and change management training through Mount Royal University. Bjorn is a recipient of the NIRSA Horace Moody Award and the Life-Saving Award from The Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem Priory of Canada.

In addition to his role at Mount Royal University, Bjorn serves as the NIRSA Canada West Provincial Director, reflecting his ongoing commitment to advancing the recreation and wellness field. His broad experience, collaborative leadership style, and dedication to community development continue to make a meaningful impact within campus recreation.
