Bjorn Billehaug has been with Mount Royal University since November 2013, serving as the Associate Director of Recreation. Bjorn holds multiple certifications, including Standard First Aid (Red Cross), Change Management (MRU), and Being a Leader and the Effective Exercise of Leadership (MRU). He is also a recipient of the Horace Moody Award from NIRSA and the Life-Saving Award from The Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem Priory of Canada.
Bjorn’s extensive background in recreation management includes roles as Sales and Marketing Manager for High Country Properties Vacation Rentals, Coordinator of Adult Wellness Programs at the University of Manitoba, and Regional Youth Coordinator for the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General. Bjorn holds a Graduate Certificate in Sport and Recreation Management and a Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Sport and Recreation from the University of Alberta, as well as a Master's of Arts in Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation, which he is currently pursuing.
In addition to his leadership role, Bjorn has served as NIRSA Canada West Provincial Director, showcasing his dedication to the recreation and wellness field. His broad experience in managing recreational programs and his commitment to community development make him an invaluable leader at MRU.
