Players Bench Male Athlete of the Week: Justin Lies

Even in a difficult weekend for the MRU Cougars men's hockey team, Justin Lies provided a bright spot.

Lies led Mount Royal in scoring during the Canada West Final, recording assists on both Cougar goals in Game 2 and helping spark a late push that nearly fueled a comeback.

The second-year forward has been a consistent offensive contributor throughout the postseason. Lies finished the Canada West Playoffs leading the Cougars with two goals, three assists and five points, and was one of just six players in the conference to average a point per game during the playoff run.

As Mount Royal prepares for its second appearance at the U SPORTS U Cup in just over a week, the Cougars will once again look to Lies to provide a spark offensively.
