The Men's soccer team headed to Edmonton this weekend to take on the MacEwen University Griffins, and the University of Alberta Golden Bears. While the women were defending home turf by taking on the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns. Both teams secured a victorious weekend with wins in all four games.
Players Bench Male Athlete of the Week: Soo Ryu
Soo Ryu, lead the team in shots against the Griffins on Saturday afternoon with 4. The defender helped lead the team to a shut-out win.
In the 82
nd minute the team was set up with a free kick on the left side of the field just past half.
Ryu is set up to take the kick and goes to capitalize and buries the ball just past the Griffins goal keeper, at the left side of the net to get his first goal of the season and give the Cougars the 2-0 lead.
During the Golden Bears match up, Ryu's defence helped get the second shut-out win of the weekend for the Cougars.
The fourth-year business student played full time in both matches of the weekend, leading the Cougars to 2 big defensive wins in Edmonton.

Analisa Galvez created opportunities in the Cougars 2 wins this past weekend at home against the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns.
In the 27
th minute of Saturday's match, Galvez intercepts a pass from the Pronghorns, sends it up the field to an open
Tamara Djurisic and they make a give and go, from an outlet pass Galvez gets a
tip on the ball to tap it in past the Pronghorns goalkeeper, taking the lead 2-0 early in the game.
The Cougars gave up a goal in the 50
th minute making the score 2-1.
Not much time later in the 53
rd minute,
Gabrielle Linford is in the right corner of the Pronghorns net, she sends the ball to Galvez at the top of the keeper's box.
Galvez takes the shot from there and fires it past the Pronghorns keeper, to net her 2
nd goal of the game.
Galvez's dominating play throughout the match led the Cougars to a 4-1 victory over the Pronghorns on Saturday afternoon.
During Sundays shut-out win, the Cougars took the match 2-0 of Lethbridge.
The second-year Health & Physical Education Major had one shot on net in Sunday's victory, with her outstanding game play this weekend Galvez now has 3 goals on the season. Â
