Skyler Rogers and Tamara Djurisic earn recognition for the fifth week of soccer action

The men and women's soccer teams were in action this past weekend, with the men at home battling against University of British Columbia and University of Northern British Columbia. While the women headed to Edmonton to take on the MacEwen University Griffins and the University of Alberta Pandas. The men came away from the weekend with a loss, and a tie, while the women split the weekend with a win and a loss.

Players Bench Male Athlete of the Week: Skyler Rogers

The Cougars may have been held scoreless on Saturdays match vs the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds, but Rogers was trying to take the game in his own hands.

Going down early in the game the Cougars were trying to get the momentum up throughout the first half.

Rogers ended the game with 2 shot attempts.

With the Cougars being held scoreless throughout 3 matches they were hoping to bounce back on Sunday afternoons game against the University of Northern Alberta Timberwolves.

After being down 2-0, Rogers opened the scoring with a spin move to get away from the defender and buries the shot. Breaking the Cougars scoreless drought.

Rogers was also a crucial piece on Jonathan Walter's goal, getting the Cougars within 1 on the scoreboard.

The fourth year business student, kept the Cougars in the games this weekend, while scoring his first goal of the season to end the scoreless streak for the team.

Players Bench Female Athlete of the Week: Tamara Djurisic

The women's team split this weekend after a 3-2 loss at the Griffins and 2-0 win against the Pandas.

Tamara Djurisic played all 180 minutes this weekend.

Djurisic and the Cougars faced off against the Griffins in Edmonton this weekend.

She was creating opportunities throughout the game by getting shots on net, and capitalizing when it counted.

Djurisic takes a penalty kick and capitalized on the shot, by breezing it over the Griffins goaltender.

On Sundays game vs the University of Alberta Pandas, Djurisic forces a takeaway from the Pandas defence and immediately takes the shot and it breezes by the goal keeper, to get the Cougar up 1-0, in their eventual 2-0 win.

The third year Health & Phys Ed major at Mount Royal University student is second in points leads of Canada West with 9 points on the season.
