Robbie Holmes signs with Idaho Steelheads

After four years with the Cougars, forward Robbie Holmes heads to ECHL

BOISE, Idaho – After four incredible years with the Mount Royal Cougars men's hockey team, Robbie Holmes has signed a professional contract with the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL.

Holmes leaves the Cougars as one of the most skilled yet feared players in Canada West. He finishes his career with the Cougars with 88 games played, 41 goals, 37 assists for 78 points. Not to mention 140 penalty minutes.

Holmes' final season was one of his best. Although missing part of the season to an illness, Holmes put up 16 points, adding another two in the playoffs, to earn Mount Royal their first trip to the Canada West Final and U SPORTS Championship.

The Steelheads are acquiring a player who is willing to put their body on the line and knows how to deliver in big moments. Holmes has been a leader and a fighter through his tenure with the Cougars and is looking to make waves in the ECHL.

The Idaho Steelheads are an American professional minor league ice hockey team based in Boise, Idaho, and a member of the ECHL.
