Another coaching departure for Cougars as Colliton steps into U SPORTS head coaching ranks.

CALGARY, ALTA. – After returning with the Mount Royal Cougars women's hockey team, Jordan Colliton has been named the new Head Coach of the University of Manitoba Bisons, effective immediately. Her departure marks another significant transition for the Cougars' coaching staff and a major step forward in her professional journey.

Colliton re-joined MRU ahead of the 2024–25 season as Associate Coach and quickly became a key figure in the program's success. With a background that includes coaching roles in U SPORTS, the NCAA, and Hockey Canada's national team pathway, she brought a high-performance mindset and a commitment to player development that resonated throughout the organization.

At Manitoba, Colliton takes over a Bisons program with a storied history in Canada West and U SPORTS competition. She becomes just the fourth head coach in the program's 27-year history and the first woman to lead the team. The Bisons identified her as a strong fit based on her extensive experience in university sport, her leadership capabilities, and her alignment with the team's culture and future goals.

Before her time at Mount Royal, Colliton served as an assistant coach at both the University of Saskatchewan and Merrimack College in the NCAA. She has also worked with Hockey Alberta and Canada's national under-18 program. Her coaching career has consistently focused on developing elite athletes in high-performance environments, making her a natural choice to take the reins at Manitoba.

Her departure follows a recent trend of Mount Royal staff earning high-profile coaching opportunities. In July 2024, former Cougars associate coach Lauren Williams accepted a role as an assistant coach with a PWHL team, the New York Sirens, joining the professional ranks after a successful season at MRU.

With Colliton stepping into her new role at Manitoba, the Cougars will now begin the process of filling the associate coach position ahead of the 2025–26 season. Her move reflects the program's ongoing reputation as a strong development ground for coaches as well as players.
