Players Bench Male Athlete of the Week: Remy Aquilon
The MRU Cougars men's hockey team collected their first weekend sweep of the season, downing the Trinity Western Spartans twice. Mount Royal scored 15 goals across the two games and were led by Remy Aquilon. The veteran defenceman had a career weekend, registering seven total points.
On Friday, Aquilon got his fourth goal of the season and added two assists in the Cougars' massive 9-2 win over the Spartans. Aquilon outdid himself on Saturday, tallying a career-best four assists in Mount Royal's second win in a row. The blueliner combined with defending U SPORTS Player of the Year
Clay Hanus for an absolute force of a defensive pairing.
Aquilon is a fourth-year business student from Kelowna, BC.

Players Bench Female Athlete of the Week: Jenika Martens
The MRU Cougars women's basketball team swept the Lethbridge Pronghorns at home this weekend, led by star forward Jenika Martens. Martens had a weekend to remember, etching herself in the history books as the all-time rebounding leader for the Cougars.Â
In Friday's action, Martens was the driving force behind the Cougars dominant win putting up a game-high 27 points along with five steals in the game. On Saturday night, Martens tied her personal best for steals in a game, getting six of them in the win to capture the sweep on the weekend.
Martens and her stellar performances help the Cougars extend their winning streak to 6 games as they head this weekend for an all-cougar battle against the Regina Cougars.Â
Martens is a fifth-year health and physical education student from La Crete, Alberta.Â
