The Cougars are set to rematch the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Saturday night at Kenyon Court, Calgary Alberta. The Cougars take a 4-point lead into the first set, leading 6-2 the Huskies take a timeout to regroup, after conceding a few points off errors. The cougars are maintaining the lead through the set, getting the Huskies to take both timeouts early in the set, while leading 17-11.
The Huskies get within five points of the Cougars trailing 22-17, and battling back, but ultimately losing the set 25-19 as the Cougars take it.
Although it seemed to be an uphill battle for the Huskies, Isiah Marner comes out of the set with seven kills.
Ryan John has three kills for the Cougars for the set. The Cougars led the whole set, with no lead changes.
Huskies are trying to take control into the second set, leading the Cougars by only a couple of points.
Liam Brandsma gets a set up off a Huskies block and the Cougars get the point.

Kale Orr gets a service ace to go up 14-9 in the set.
Aaron Elser gets a kill to be down by three points, and forcing the Cougars to take a timeout, as they lead 20-17. After a gid out by John, Mathieu Methot gets a kill resulting in the Cougars taking their second timeout of the set. The Cougars still lead 21-19. The Cougars take the set 25-19 after the Huskies tip the ball out of bounds on a kill attempt.
Grant Hill is assisting the cougars through the two sets with a total of 9 assists; Orr has come up big with nine digs to keep the Cougars in the lead.
Cougars come out on the attack in set three, with
Cody Hudson laying down a nearly perfect kill to get the first point of the match. Marner gets his tenth kill of the game for the Huskies to be up 5-2, and after a block by Jacob Baird and Marner which forces an MRU error the Cougars take a timeout trailing by 4.
Brandsma gets out a great dig that leads to an Orr kill and the cougars are just trailing by two, as the Huskies lead 7-2. Huskies are keeping the kills up and the Cougars are making some forced errors, the Huskies lead 12-9, and the Cougars take their second time out of the set.
Michael McAlpine and Issac Karstad get a block down and the Cougars are within three.
Hudson gets a kill to lead 17-15. The Cougars are keeping the energy up while trying to get out of the game in three sets. The Huskies up their game and score four points in a row to get up 24-20, trying to force a fourth set. The Huskies force a fourth set, getting their 25th point on a kill by Reuben Veith.
Noah Opseth gets out of the third set with 26 assists for the Huskies, while Marner now has 11 kills on the game. With Ryan and Orr having 13 kills between the two of them for the Cougars.
Huskies come out with a force during set four, leading 3-0 with Baird getting two blocks down to score. The Cougars give up two service errors, as the Huskies lease 6-2. Marner gets his 13th kill of the night to have the Huskies leading 8-2. Methot lays down his ninth kill of the match to have the Huskies leading 10-4. Hudson gets a kill down in hopes to change the momentum of the set as the
Cougars now trail 13-9. Huskies force the Cougars to take their second timeout of the set, while the Huskies lead by six. As the Cougars trail in the fourth set,
Ryan John gets down a kill to get within three.
Maxim Turgeon and the Cougars create a rally of points and are down by one as the Huskies lead 18-17. Baird gets down a kill and takes out the Cougars momentum for the Huskies to lead 19-17. The Huskies take the fourth set 25-19 off a service return error by the Cougars.
The game is now headed to a fifth set; a winner takes all set as the Huskies battled back throughout the game to make this happen. Orr gets down his 10th kill of the game to get the lead on the Huskies, 4-3. McAlpine and Turgeon get down a block for the Cougars to get the set tied at 7, with a
Kai Toney kill right after to get up 8-7. After laying down another block from Turgeon and Toney the Cougars lead 9-7 and Saskatchewan takes a timeout. Marner lays down a 17th kill to get the score 10-9 for the Cougars. Orr gets a Cougars kill down to lead 11-9, along with a Hudson kill as they take the lead 12-10. With a dig out by Brandsma the Cougars then get a kill down to lead 14-10. Methot gets a kill down for the Huskies, as the are trying to keep the match going.
Elser goes for the kill, but the ball goes out of bounds, and the Cougars take the set 15-12, and get the win three sets to two.
Marner had a total of 17 kills for the Huskies, with Opseth have 42 assists. Orr had a total of 12 kills for the Cougars and
Grant Hill comes out of the game with 29 assists.
The Cougars remain undefeated in their season as they head into Manitoba to take on the Brandon University Bobcats next weekend.
