Players Bench Male Athlete of the Week

The Cougars men's soccer team secured both a tie and a win over the weekend during the first week of the Canada West men's soccer season. With Lethbridge's park-the-bus mentality and 25 KM/H winds the Cougars drew their home opener 0-0, but still dominated in possession and shots proving the reigning, defending Canada West Champions still have their mojo. Going into Sunday the weather faired a lot better against Saskatchewan. Only six minutes into the game the Cougars took the lead early on a Finn Marshall Goal. Later on, the Cougars would strike again, followed by a penalty shot goal for the Huskies. Sunday proved great and the Cougars took home their first win of the season.,

The Players Bench Male Athlete of the Week is Dawid Dudek. Dudek played both games this weekend against Lethbridge and Saskatchewan registering his first goal of the season against the Huskies. Dudek was a force to be reckoned with, controlling the offense up front and taking the most shots this weekend at three. Dudek's goal in the 49th minute was crucial for the Cougars as it solidified their first win of the season.

The 2024-25 season marks Dudek's final season with MRU. Dudek showed leadership on the pitch this weekend toward his younger teammates and is destined to make his farewell tour the best of his university career and hopefully lead the Cougars back to the promised land.
