CALGARY, AB – Four in a row for the cats.
The MRU Cougars women's basketball team gutted out a 69-59 win over the University of Winnipeg Wesmen, capping off a six-game home stand with a 4-2 record.
The Wesmen kept the game tight in the first half and were down just five points going into the half.Â
Winnipeg wing Jennifer Kallon put up 14 points in the first half, consistently scoring in the paint and causing defensive issues for MRU.
However, the Cougars were able to shut down Kallon in the second half, holding her to just five points in the final 20 minutes of the game.Â
Mount Royal's key to success Saturday evening was the exemplary play from their bigs.

Harriette Mackenzie all finished the contest with double-digit rebounds.
Mackenzie recorded arguably her most impressive game since joining the Cougars this season. Along with her 10 boards, the forward from Comox, BC dropped a team-high 19 points for her fourth double-double of the season.
Mount Royal eventually prevailed after a total of 11 lead changes, securing the weekend sweep over the Wesmen. The 6-2 Cougars sit tied for fourth in Canada West while Winnipeg falls to 1-7.
