CALGARY, AB – A big fourth quarter from the University of Alberta Golden Bears men's basketball team secured the victory over Mount Royal University by a score of 93-78 Saturday night at Kenyon Court.

Ijah Nelson continued his impressive play from Friday's victory, pulling up from midrange and knocking down a clutch three at the buzzer in the first quarter. The Golden Bears matched the Cougars' success early, with efficient scoring from shifty guard Lars Ishimwe.Â
Mount Royal held a narrow lead throughout the first half, highlighted by consistent offensive play from star guard
Keivonte Watts. The Utica, Mississippi local shot 46.7 per cent from the field and finished with 18 points.Â
At the half, the Cougars led 45-40.
The third quarter matched the pace of the game, with MRU and Alberta going shot for shot. Saturday's game saw 17 lead changes.
In the fourth quarter, the Golden Bears broke away. Alberta went on a 13-point run with Adam Paige and Isaac Simon catching fire from deep. The impressive quarter from the away team propelled them to victory over Mount Royal.
Ultimately, the Cougars had no answer for Lars Ishimwe, who registered a double-double with game-highs of 28 points and 10 rebounds.Â

The loss for Mount Royal ends their undefeated start to the season while Alberta moves to 2-2 in Canada West play.
