Box Score The Mount Royal University men's hockey team fell to the University of Alberta Golden Bears 5 - 2 in a tough fought battle Saturday evening.
Majority of the first period witnessed both teams battling for possession of the puck. Deep into the period, the University of Alberta's Adam Hall secured the first goal of the game with an assist from Josh Prokop.
With just two minutes remaining, the Golden Bears Mason Ward was penalized for tripping, sending him to the penalty box and granting the Cougars a powerplay opportunity.

Connor Bouchard tied the game with just over 30 seconds left in the period. Seconds later, U of A's Blake Gustafson answered back, propelling his team to a 2 – 1 lead over the Cougars.
Both teams came out firing in the second period.
Golden Bears Eric Florchuck was cited early on for tripping, with teammate Wyatt McLeod also sent to the penalty box shortly after for tripping.
MRU's
Remy Aquilon received a charging penalty eight minutes into the period. Midway through, MRU's
Tristan Zandee was penalized for boarding, and
Remy Aquilon for slew footing, giving the Golden Bear's a five-on-three advantage.
The University of Alberta's Josh Prokop extended their lead to 3 – 1 just over 10 minutes into the period.
The Golden Bears Daneel Lategan earned a tripping penalty with just over five minutes left. Mason Ward of the Golden Bears was also sent to the penalty box in the final minutes of the period for roughing.
The Golden Bears continued to increase their lead into the third period.
Early in the period, the University of Alberta's Mason Ward was cited for charging and sent to the penalty box. The Cougars
Kyle Walker also found himself in the box in the first seven minutes for hooking.
Adam Hall of the Golden Bears extended their lead 14 minutes into the period, bringing his team to a 4 – 1 advantage.
Mason Ward earned another penalty near the end of the period for interference. Seconds later, MRU's
Robbie Holmes found the back of the net, narrowing the Cougars deficit to 4 - 2.
With the Cougars goalie pulled, U of A's Jacob Kendall scored into an empty net, bringing the final score to 5 – 2.
