The MRU Cougars were a force to be reckoned with in today's match up against the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns.Â
Within the first minute of play, MRU was able to get off two massive shots and show tough pressure that would set the tone for the remaining 90 minutes.
Sydney Danielewicz was able to score the Cougars first goal of the 2021-22 season with a shot off a cross reception sent by
Kareena Kassam. In under 10 minutes Danielewicz capitalized again with a rocket from the top of the box going high above the head of Pronghorn goalie, Bridie Harding.
Lethbridge was able to retaliate with a goal by Lucy Mundy, sneaking inside the bottom left corner of the net in the opening minute of the second half.
Danielewicz was hungry for the win and went in for a third goal, completing her first hat trick of her MRU career.
Jamie Rovere fired off a shot, blocked by Harding, with Danielewicz ready to catch the rebound, chipping it into the back of the net and securing the game for the women.
The women hope to carry this winning performance on to next weekend when they face off against the University of Alberta Pandas on Saturday at home.Â
