The Mount Royal University Cougars had an undefeated weekend against the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns after taking the win 82-67.

The Cougars were able to out score the Pronghorns in three of the four quarters before Lethbridge made an impressive comeback attempt, getting 29 points in the last 15 minutes of play.

MRU player of the game, Nate Petrone, led the team in scoring with 16 points on the hardwood. He was followed closely by Holt Tomie who made 14 points and five rebounds. The duo were the driving force behind the win.

"It was a good game, the first game where we started with the gas pedal down," said Petrone. "We just kept it going. It feels good to sweep Lethbridge. They've had our number for the last couple of years, so it felt good."

The Pronghorns held their own throughout the game, battling hard against an aggressive Cougars offence. De'Andrae Pierre led his team in scoring, getting 17 points. His teammates Angelo Mbituyimana, Jeff Rodehutskors and Moreau Darlington also put up notable stats for Lethbridge.

Mbituyimana had 15 points and five rebounds to his name, while Rodehutskors had a beautiful double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds. To round out the quartet, Darlington had 11 points and three rebounds himself.

The Cougars were truly the star of the show tonight despite the hard press put on by the Pronghorns. MRU set the precedent early and led by 15 at the end of the first half.
The men have seemingly found their rhythm and their on court flow was like watching poetry in motion.

Make sure to catch their next game when they take on the University of Calgary Dinos at the Jack Simpson Gymnasium Dec. 3. Tune in at Canada West TV presented by Co-op.

The Lethbridge Pronghorns defeated the Mount Royal Cougars today 74-48 in their second match-up of the weekend at Kenyon Court.

The Pronghorns came out hungry for a second win straight from the tip-off, taking the first quarter 27-13 and giving themselves a comfortable lead going on.

The Cougars came out into the second quarter with promise but Lethbridge had found an unstoppable rhythm with shut-down defence and sniper accuracy on offence. The Pronghorns finished out the half leading MRU 38-22.

LET's Haily Weaver continued her impressive performances from yesterday, putting up 17 points and eight rebounds by the end of the first half. She continued on to finish the game with her second double-double of the weekend with 24 points, 11 rebounds and four steals.

Rachel Osczevski and Brittany Janzen stepped up on the Cougars line, being prominent in the paint and holding their ground against a driven Pronghorn offence.

The third quarter saw a surge in MRU energy, dominating in the paint and out rebounding the Pronghorns, but the Cougars were unable to convert on offense. Lethbridge went into the final 15 minutes of play with a 19 point lead.

MRU Cougars player of the game, Brittany Janzen, kept the team in the right head space and proved a necessary leader for the women. She was able to put up seven points and four rebounds and was a solid presence under the basket for the team.

"Definitely going into next week when we play against U of C, we're going to be coming in with a fire under our belly," said Janzen. "We want to show them who we are and what we are for, and hopefully we can bring back who we represent."

The women play away next weekend against their cross town rivals, the University of Calgary Dinos, at the Jack Simpson Gym. Tune in to this Crowchild Classic match up on Canada West TV presented by Co-op
