The University of Saskatchewan played their second game of the weekend against Mount Royal University today at Stadium Field where the Huskies conceded a 2-3 loss against the Cougars.

Saskatchewan came out hungry after yesterday's loss to the Cougars and began the game with a goal in the 12th minute of play by Jordan Verones. Verones received a long cross sent by Aaron Hidalgo-Mazzei on a corner kick, heading the ball just inside the right post and slipping past the hands of MRU goalie Bilaal Hassan.

The Cougars came back to even the score at the end of the first half when Niklas Liebich broke up the play deep in the Huskies defensive end, stealing the ball and passing it through to Moe El Gandour. El Gandour went for a run bringing himself into shooting position inside the box, with a hard shot curling into the left side of the net, past SSK defense and out of reach of Marcus Baxter.

Baxter redeemed himself early in the second, stopping El Gandour from capitalizing on a penalty kick awarded to the Cougars. He was able to do it again against Justin Anderson-Louch 15 minutes later but Baxter just couldn't find his footing to prevent Anderson-Louch from sending a hard volley shot into the back of the net after collecting his own rebound.

Anderson-Louch proved himself worthy of the player of the game title when he scored the Cougars third goal of the match, sending the ball sky high from inside Mount Royal's defensive half. Wind was on his side, carrying the ball the entire length of the field, and curling into the top left hand corner of the Huskies goal.

Saskatchewan was able to close the gap with a goal from Kuhle Bekwayo in extra time to wrap up the game. KB showed off his footwork from a ways out, creating enough space to launch a ball through 11 bodies crowding in front of the net, and past the hands of Hassan.

Today's game marked a special occasion for MRU as they celebrated their four graduates, Justin Anderson-Louch, Daniel Harrison, Kylan Johnson, and David Can. The men were recognized and played the final home game of their careers.

The team was also joined by various alumni, including Sean Friesen who represented the 1996-97 ACAC Championship team for the 25th anniversary.

With today's win, the Cougars go into their final game of the season against The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns at the University Community Stadium. Make sure to watch the game on Canada West TV presented by Co-op.
