Box Score CALGARY - The snow would not let up at Mount Royal Stadium Field as the Cougars hosted the Macewan Griffins on Saturday. Both teams battled hard through some serious snow storms and the Cougars came out on top 3-1.
Kyran Valley started in net for the Cougars while Simon Dawe was tending the twine for the Griffins.

Things got off to a slow start as both teams tried to get used to the slippery field. The Cougars would strike first in the 29
thminute.
David Schaefer sent a leading pass up to
Moe El Gandour who made a move and then sent the ball around Dawe for his 6
thgoal of the season.

Macewan had a good opportunity in the 36
thas an errant pass across the top of the Cougars box gave them possession. Nothing came of it though as the ball soared above the net off a Griffins foot. A few minutes later the Griffins had a good opportunity with a free kick at the top of the box after the Cougars were assessed a yellow card. Macewan attempted a quick passing play but couldn't connect. The score stays at 1-0 for the Cougars after 45 minutes of play.

The game resumed after a one-hour weather delay during the break. Macewan would quickly event things up getting their first of the game in the 47
thminute. Everett Orgnero was given too much space in the box and capitalized putting the ball past Valley and into the net.

In the 60
thminute El Gandour was taken down while streaking towards the net awarding the Cougars a penalty shot. He made no mistake sinking the ball into the bottom right corner of the net for his second of the afternoon.

Miguel Da Rocha is sent in on a great pass from El Gandour. Da Rocha makes a nice move around the keeper and is able to slide one home getting the insurance goal for the home side.

The Cougars host the Alberta Golden Bears Sunday in their final home game of the season while the Griffins will be in Calgary again taking on the Dinos.
