CALGARY, AB - Mount Royal Cougars Athletics and Recreation hosted their annual Academic All-Canadian Awards breakfast, presented by Enterprise Rent-A-Car, bright and early. It was a record breaking year with 74 student athletes awarded Academic All-Canadian status for the 2018-2019 season.

To recieve this prestigious honour, Mount Royal varsity student-athletes must maintain a 3.4 GPA while enrolled as a full-time student. These top performers make up 44% of all student-athletes at MRU. This incredible percentage places Mount Royal as an academic leader in the Canada West Conference.  

"This award acknowledges the work that student-athletes do in the classroom and brings into focus our first priorities of academics," said Cougars Athletics and Recreation Director Karla Karch. "We are extremely proud of our student-athletes and the time commitment it takes to excel in all areas, including in the classroom, athletics and in the community."

The women's soccer team led the way with 16 Academic All-Canadians followed by women's hockey with 15, men's hockey with 12.
