CALGARY - The Mount Royal University Cougars took the night from the University of British Columbia Okanagan Heat. The game ended with a 3-0 solid lead.Â
The Cougars were looking to maintain their steady winning streak of six matches as they faced off against the Heat on Friday at Kenyon Court. Prior to first serve, UBCO held a three match win streak. The first set was a close call as the Cougars took it 25-21 with 15-9 kills. Cougars' Nyadholi Thokbuom closed the set with a quick kill.Â
Mount Royal swept the second set, ending with 25-13. The Heat was putting up a hard offensive as they nearly matched the Cougars' attack attempts.Â
UBCO was fighting back hard as they tried to make a final mark on the night. First year Jade Bussard led the game in points with 11. Mount Royal's second year middle Thokbuom led her own team in points with 12 points.Â
Thokbuom also led in shot percentage with 0.571, while the Heat's Natalie Livingston held strong with 0.600 percent.Â
The two teams face off again on Saturday, November 9, at 7 p.m. MST on Kenyon Court. It will be broadcasted live on CanadaWest.tv, presented by Co-op.
