CALGARY, AB - Ten Mount Royal volleyball players were drafted to the Calgary Premier League for the 2019 season. This summer league is running for the second year and has grown into the most elite league in Canada. These Cougars will compete with the best in the province that will prepare them for the 2019-2020 season. The season runs from May to July and has developed a huge following in the volleyball community.
Mount Royal Volleyball has become an integral part of this new and elite league. Top students, ex-professionals and ex-national team athletes play together in front of hundreds of fans in a fun, energetic and unique atmosphere. Four men's and four women's teams compete each night to take home the Premier League Cup for each gender. Each team plays six season games, a semi-final and a final in a compressed 10 week schedule. This all kicks off Monday, May 27th at SAIT.

Cougar's libero Natalia Klimenova and middle blocker Anna Carlson join alumni Robyn Potolicki and Olivia Grecu on CMS Crush. This team is coached by Cougar's Sandra Lamb and Chris Cheng, and owned by alumni Carolyn O'Dwyer. Other Cougars alumni such as Mackenzie Allen, Kylie Willis and Julia Kryzan were drafted to teams as well.
The men's side has five current Cougars on the same team. The Vogel LLP Smashing Gavels are owned by MRU assistant coach Andy Hayher and general managed by MRU Head Coach Shawn Sky.
