  • Hardstaff & Hemans recognized by Canada West

    Two Mount Royal Cougars women's soccer players have been recognized by the league. For the second consecutive year, Quinn Hardstaff has been named to the 2018 Second-Team All-Stars. Additionally Rose Hemans, who joined the Cougars this year from Crystal Palace Ladies FC, has been named to the 2018 Canada West All-Rookie team.

    The Canada West women's soccer game originally scheduled for Saturday, October 6 in Calgary between the Mount Royal Cougars and Alberta Pandas will now be played in Edmonton. The change comes after Calgary received its snowiest October day in more than a century, when more than 30 cm of snow fell on the Stampede City Tuesday. The decision to move the game from Mount Royal’s Cougars Stadium Field to Alberta’s Foote Field was made to ensure a suitable playing field will be available for the game. The rescheduled game will now be played Saturday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. MT at Foote Field. Edmonton was left unscathed by the snowstorm earlier this week, and will also host the Cougars and Pandas regularly scheduled match on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. MT.

Through the bitter wind, the ladies charged forwards and after fierce competition, the teams ended up at a 2-2 tie.
