CALGARY – The latest installment of the Crowchild Classic was a successful one for the University of Calgary Dinos as they defeated the Mount Royal University Cougars 3-0 on Saturday at the West Varsity Soccer Pitch.

Wearing pink jerseys for their annual breast cancer awareness game, the Dinos got two goals in the first half from the reigning Canada West Women's First Star Kelsie MacDonald, who now has seven goals in her last three matches.

The game was centered around the middle of the pitch in the opening minutes as both Calgary-based teams tried to surpass the other's defence to get scoring opportunities.

Mount Royal's Erin Holt had two powerful shots from her free kicks in the 9th and 12th minute, but both attempts went straight into the hands of Dinos goalkeeper Lauren Houghton

MacDonald got the game's first goal with a breakaway from the center left wing. She drove the ball down the wing, dodged two Mount Royal defenders, and scored into the bottom right of the net.

In the 21st minute, MacDonald once again showed her incredible talent by receiving a pass from Maddison Fritze and fired the ball into the middle of the net.

Calgary's Sienna Prince-McPherson was up for a penalty kick in the 57th minute where she scored without hesitation into the bottom left corner on the net.

The Dinos controlled possession in the second half and managed to smother the Cougars' attack to hold them off the scoresheet.

The Dinos are back in action on Sunday afternoon as they wrap out their Canada West regular season schedule versus the University of Alberta Pandas. The Cougars remain away from home as they visit the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns. Both games kick off at 12 p.m.
