Calgary, Alta – The Mount Royal women's soccer team will be embarking on a trip south of the border for a series of pre-season games next week.
The Cougars will start off their pre season tour in Spokane, Washington where they will play Gonzaga on August 11th. The Bulldogs finished last season with a 2-7-0 record in the West Coast Conference of NCAA Division I Soccer.
Next, the Cougars will travel to Moscow, Idaho where they will face the University of Idaho Vandals on August 13th. The Vandals finished last season 7-1-2 making them back to back regular season champions in the NCAA's Big Sky Conference.
Head Coach Tino Fusco says he and his team are excited to face new and unfamiliar competition. "It will be a good challenge for the players selected; the US teams are very physical and athletic." Fusco also confirmed that both American players currently on the roster will make the trip. "We have added an American each year in the past three years to our roster so why not travel back to their country to promote our style of play."
