CALGARY - Friday night, the Mount Royal Cougars’ women’s hockey team and the Alberta Pandas faced off at the Flames Community Arenas. The weekend before, the Cougars had been beaten by the Manitoba Bisons, so the Calgary-based team was looking for some redemption.
CALGARY – Saturday, at the Flames Community Arenas, the Mount Royal Cougars’ and the Manitoba Bisons’ women’s hockey teams played a rematch, following a 4-1 Bisons win on Friday. Despite the Cougars starting strong and gaining the lead early eventually the Bisons took over, winning 4-1 again.
VANCOUVER - In their second game of the 2019 calendar year, the UBC Thunderbirds (8-4-3-3) dropped a 1-0 decision to the Mount Royal University Cougars (7-9-1-1) on Saturday afternoon at Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre.
VANCOUVER – The UBC Thunderbirds (8-3-3-3) were victorious in their first game of the 2019 calendar year, utilizing two second period goals and a defensively strong third period to get past the Mount Royal University Cougars (6-9-1-1) 2-1 on Friday night at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre.
Mount Royal comes into the winter break having had their three-game winning streak snapped by Regina who leapfrogged them in the standings however, there have been lots of positives for Scott Rivett and his team to take away from their first semester.
CALGARY – Friday night, the Mount Royal Cougars women’s hockey team defended their territory from the Regina Cougars at the Flames Community Arenas. While Mount Royal had just won their last two games, Regina had lost theirs. The game came out to a score of 3-3 after a struggle. While Regina lead the game initially, the Cougars steadily caught up and in the second overtime won the game.
LETHBRIDGE - Following a loss last night in Calgary in the front half of the home-and-home series, home ice didn’t treat the Lethbridge Pronghorn any better, falling in a heartbreaking 1-0 to the Mount Royal Cougars in Canada West women’s hockey action.
CALGARY – On Friday the Mount Royal Cougars Women’s Hockey team took on the Lethbridge Pronghorns at the Flames Community Arenas for the first part of a home-and-home. Both Albertan teams were coming in from a loss, after the Cougars took the lead, the Pronghorns were left behind unable to catch up. The game came out to a final score of 2-1 for the Cougars.
SASKATOON – Second-year Huskie Chloe Smith broke a scoreless tie with 8:44 left in the third period to help the University of Saskatchewan bounce back with a 1-0 victory over Mount Royal on Saturday at Merlis Belsher Place.
CALGARY – On Saturday, the Mount Royal Cougars and the Calgary Dinos women’s hockey teams met for the second half of their Crowchild Classic at the Flames Community Arena, following a 3-2 win for the Dinos the day before. After a slow start, the Cougars gained the lead in the second period, failed to hang onto it, then earned it back in the third period to win 2-1.
CALGARY – The losing drought is over as the University of Calgary Dinos nabbed their first win of the season, dropping the Mount Royal University Cougars 3-2, Friday evening at the Father David Bauer Arena.
WINNIPEG — Rookie Erin Fargey registered her first career U SPORTS win and shutout on Sunday afternoon at Wayne Fleming Arena, stopping 16 shots as the No. 2 ranked Manitoba Bisons got past the Mount Royal Cougars 2-0.

CALGARY - The Mount Royal Cougars and University of Alberta Pandas, played the second half of a home-and-home Saturday at the Flames Community Arena. Yesterday the game in Edmonton resulted in a 7-0 win for the Pandas.
CALGARY - The Mount Royal Cougars’ and the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds’ women’s hockey teams played a rematch on a snowy Saturday afternoon just seventeen hours after their last game concluded in double overtime. Thunderbirds defender Mikayla Ogrodniczuk said going into the game “we definitely have room for improvement in this game, but we’re looking to secure another win and play another solid game.” At the end of the day, they did just that, earning themselves a 3-0 victory.
CALGARY - Mount Royal University’s women's hockey team, the Cougars, played their first home game of the season which turned out to be a riveting game against the University of British Columbia’s Thunderbirds on Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Flames Community Arena. Both teams came in with one loss and one win under their belt, and both rocketed off as soon as the puck dropped. The two teams were tense and evenly matched throughout the game, with the 1-1 tie established in the first period carrying on until overtime, and the teams went into a second overtime. The Thunderbirds eventually scored a goal and won the game. MRU’s Daria O’Neil called it “one of the tougher games,” the fourth-year defenceman went on to say “We are obviously disappointed with the result but were are proud of how we’d played.”
CALGARY - Another season has come and gone and the Mount Royal Cougars Athletics and Recreation department hosted their annual Cougar Night at the Bella Concert Hall to celebrate the successes of the latest U SPORTS season.
VANCOUVER – Forward Kathleen Cahoon scored at 15:55 of the third overtime period to give the third-seeded UBC Thunderbirds a dramatic 2-1 victory over the visiting Mount Royal Cougars in Game 1 of their Canada West quarter-final series Friday at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Center.
