Sky to coach Volleyball Canada's youth national team

CALGARY - Volleyball Canada announced the appointment of coaches for the Team Canada Youth Men to provide an environment of excellence in Canada to expose identified athletes to international level of education, training and competition early in their careers.

Mount Royal Cougars' head coach Shawn Sky and Matt Harris will take the lead roles with the Youth Men teams, born in 2000 or later. Shawn's experience with the Cougars and Team Alberta added to Matt's experience with Team Ontario Canada Games are a great combination for our next generation of Team Canada athletes. Working with Shawn and Matt will be Nathan Janzen, Mike Hawkins, Joel Dyck, and Greg Barthel.

"It's an honour and a privilege to represent Canada and be involved with this program," said Sky. "I'm thrilled to be working with the future of our national team. With 28 athletes and six coaches, it's going to be a really dynamic and collaborative training environment. The coaching staff is full of exceptional teachers of the game. It's an opportunity for significant growth for everyone involved."

Athletes will train starting in mid-July and travel to Tulsa, OK for the USAVB High Performance Championships, July 24-28, 2018.
