Higgins joins staff for U SPORTS Women's Hockey All-Star team
TORONTO – Mount Royal's men's hockey Director of Hockey Operations, Nathan Higgins, was named as the Equipment Manager for the U SPORTS Women's Hockey All-Star team. The team is set to attend Hockey Canada's Summer Showcase in Calgary, Aug. 2-11.
Higgins was excited about the opportunity to work with some of the best women's hockey players in U SPORTS.
"I'm most looking forward to participating as a member of this team of exceptional student-athletes, coaches, and staff and to showcase our high-calibre U SPORTS women's hockey. I appreciate the character and commitment of our university student-athletes and I wanted to continue to be associated with the U SPORTS brand and to proudly represent Mount Royal University in this unique development opportunity with Hockey Canada."
For the third straight year, the U SPORTS All-Stars will take part in the Summer Showcase, playing four games - two against Hockey Canada's National Women's Development Team, and another pair of contests versus Japan's national women's program.
Stacey Colarossi, head coach of the Laurentian Voyageurs, will serve as the team's bench boss for the second consecutive year, joined by assistants Marc-André Côté of the Moncton Aigles Bleues, Greg Bowles of the Ottawa Gee-Gees and Terry Rhindress of the Mount Allison Mounties.
The Summer Showcase will be held at WinSport in Calgary's Canada Olympic Park.
