CALGARY – The Mount Royal Cougars Athletics and Recreation department completed their team with the final three hires ahead of the 2018-19 season.
The Cougars would like to announce Jack Boyle, Sport Conditioning Coach, Ciara Lane, Athlete Services Coordinator, Dylan Turner, Assistant Athletic Therapist and Cait Campbell, Assistant Athletic Therapist.
Boyle will become the first Sport Conditioning Coach for MRU and comes to the Cougars from the McMaster Marauders, where he was the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for volleyball, basketball and soccer from 2016-2018. Before that, Boyle worked as a graduate assistant in strength and conditioning at UBC while completing his Masters from 2014-16. Boyle is no stranger to Calgary, having completed his Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary.
"The thing I am looking forward to most is starting to work with and get to know all of the athletes," said Boyle. "I am very excited with all of the positive changes within Mount Royal Athletics and I am very eager to provide my expertise towards building an optimal system to keep athletes healthy and competing at the top of their game."
Ciara Lane is no stranger to the Cougars. Two seasons ago, Lane was the team's Office Administrator and focused primarily on management of varsity team travel, department planning as well as collaboration with academic departments at MRU regarding student-athlete support. She comes from a completed term position as an Academic Advisor in MRU's Enrolment Services department in 2017-18.
Assuming the role of Athlete Services Coordinator in the newly formed department of Cougars Athletics & Recreation, Ciara will be the primary contact for all things related to eligibility and compliance, athletic financial aid, and drug education. In addition, Ciara will continue to develop relationships with academic and administrative units on the MRU campus to provide guidance, support, and growth for our 165 student -athletes.
The Cougars would also like to welcome Dylan Turner to the team. With a Bachelor in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary, Turner also completed his Advanced Athletic Therapy Certificate from Mount Royal in 2014 and that same year became a certified Athletic Therapist. He's worked at a variety of clinics and events over the past four years, most notably with the Paralympic Sledge Hockey team since 2016 as well as with the local motocross team members since 2014.
"I am most excited to be with the Cougars because I love the atmosphere of the university and how committed everyone is to help each other out and making it an amazing campus," said Turner.
Cait Campbell is the final hire ahead of the 2018-19 season. She is familiar with the program as she has been working within the academic Athletic Therapy program at Mount Royal and will be an instructor in the Athletic Therapy program in the upcoming school year.
All four the Cougars new staff will begin throughout mid-July to mid-August.
