CALGARY - Riley Friesen and Becky Nash have been named the Under Armour & Players Bench Athletes of the Week for the week of November 6-12th, 2017.
Despite another tough five-set loss, the Mount Royal Cougars stormed back the following day of their doubleheader with Regina to split the weekend series.
Fifth-year Riley Friesen recorded a game-high 21 kills in Friday's marathon match and added eight digs in the team's loss to Regina. The following day, MRU was able to down the visiting Cougars in three straight sets where Friesen scored nine kills and added five blocks and four digs to his totals.
The Cougars men's volleyball team heads out on the road to take on the Trinity Western Spartans, Nov. 17-18.
The Mount Royal Cougars women's basketball team dropped their home-and-home series with the Lethbridge Pronghorns, but fifth-year Becky Nash stood out from the rest.
On Thursday in Lethbridge, the Science student scored a team-high 11 points and recorded a game-high four blocks in the 72-56 loss. Two days later at Kenyon Court, Nash scored a game-high 16 points and 11 rebounds and was the only player that night to record a double-double in the 75-61 loss to the Pronghorns.
The Cougars stay home for two weekends, hosting the Manitoba Bisons, Nov. 17-18, and then the Thompson Rivers WolfPack, Nov. 24-25.
