CALGARY - Caitlin Heim and Josh Munoz were named the Muscle Milk Athletes of the Month for the month of September.
Caitlin Heim currently sits in fifth in team minutes played and is the team's "little engine". She plays in the single pivot position and runs the possession-style attack. She currently leads the team in completed passing percentage. In her second year, she has earned a start in all 8 matches thus far. She scored her first U SPORTS goal with a "screamer" to the upper 90 against Manitoba helping the squad to a 3-0 win. She is 1 of 25 reasons the Cougars women's soccer program is sitting in second place in the Prarie Division at this stage of the season.
Rookie Josh Munoz, the male athlete of the month for September, leads the team in goals with two after the first half of the season. The defenceman has played and started in all eight games this season thus far and is poised to become a regular in the backfield for the Cougars throughout his career. The Open Studies student scored against Lethbridge and Thompson Rivers, both games that ended in a tie.
The men's and women's soccer teams play home-and-home series over Thanksgiving weekend and will finish off the regular season at the end of October.
